About the event
Everyday Fitness is an innovative way to create exercise routines that work for your body, mind and schedule. As we age, there are many factors to take into account in order to maintain and improve our physical wellbeing: cardiovascular health, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, mobility, balance and stability, bone and joint health.
In addition to attending to our social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive health! Sometimes it may seem that we could spend the whole day caring for our bodies' needs and still not cover all the bases.
This workshop is an opportunity to learn basic principles of exercise physiology (that is, how the body responds to and adapts to different types, amounts, and intensities of exercise), and fitness training (that is, how often and with what intensity and duration do we need to move in certain ways).
In this workshop, you can expect to learn:
recommended amounts and intensity of exercise for cardiovascular fitness
how muscles respond to resistance training
options for strength training and how to combine it with cardio
several routines and high pay-off moves to add to your exercise diet

Exercise physiologist, Linda Castronovo, personal trainer, Jo Glading-DiLorenzo, yoga teacher, coach, and wellness director, Chris Paradis are long-time friends and lifelong athletes. Given their preferences, Linda would always choose to be in the woods; Jo would always choose to be on a bicycle; and Chris would be on the field hockey or lacrosse field. As we've aged, however, we've come to understand the importance of maintaining healthy muscle, bone, and movement patterns by incorporating more than just our preferred activities into our exercise routines.
Join us for an experiential exploration of what it takes to move with freedom, resilience, safety and JOY as we age.
