About the event
.Osteoporosis and osteopenia are being diagnosed at record rates. It is predicted that one in two women and one in four men will receive this diagnosis in their lifetime. According to a report by the US Surgeon General, approximately 10 million Americans over the age of 50 have this diagnosis, with another 34 million at risk. Osteoporotic fractures in the USA are extremely common, with an estimated 1.5 million suffering fragility fractures each year. Come and learn about these two conditions: risk factors, causes, treatments, and prevention. Learn how to build and maintain healthy bones with diet, supplementation, and exercise.

Dr. Amy Rothenberg, has practiced as a licensed naturopathic doctor for over 38 years in Northampton, Massachusetts. She is the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians 2017 Physician the Year. She is the author of the Amazon Bestseller: You Finished Treatment, Now What? A Field Guide for Cancer Survivors (Koehler Books). She served on the Board of Health in Amherst for six years and as Vice President of the Board of the Amherst Survival Center. She spearheaded the successful effort to license naturopathic doctors in the Bay State. Dr. Rothenberg is a beloved teacher in the world of integrative medicine. Her humor, grace and knowledge as both a doctor, a cancer survivor, a wife, and mother inform her teaching, writing and practice. She shares her life with partner extraordinaire, Paul Herscu ND, MPH. Together, they raised three wonderful, now adult children and continues to enjoy the good life in Western Mass, including the arrival of their first grandchild. When not working in the world of natural medicine Dr Rothenberg enjoys the practice of yoga and mindfulness meditation, ballroom dance, rollerblading, working out, making art, and playing the guitar.
