Explore a Spectacular Glacial Ravine

Horario y ubicación
25 oct 2025, 11:00 – 13:00
Rattlesnake Gutter Conservation Area, 15 Rattlesnake Gutter Rd, Leverett, MA 01054, USA
Acerca del evento
Rattlesnake Gutter is a spectacular glacial ravine that probably formed when either glacial meltwater or a temporary glacial lake exploited a fracture in the crust that had constrained the flow of water.
This will be more of a moderate hike than a nature walk with some gradual uphill climbs. Plan to cover approximately 2-3 miles in about about 2 hours up through the ravine and then into woods on various loops.
One loop will take us to a view of the Peace Pagoda.
On the way back to the parking area, we will pass through a whimsical garden landscape.
Meet up at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 25th
Directions
From the Leverett Town Hall, turn right/north on Montague Road. Go past the library and school to Rattlesnake Gutter Road. (2 miles from Town Hall)
Turn right on Rattlesnake Gutter Rd and park in the pull-offs before the lower gate.
Please Note: Do NOT to take Rattlesnake Gutter Rd from the N. Leverett Rd side of the conservation area.
Registration is not required, but it would be great to know you are coming.
